Former Alpine member Dave Moore passed away unexpectedly on Friday, February 5, 2010. Dave joined Alpine in 1963 and was very active for nine years, serving as our Team Captain (now Field Director) for seven years of those years. Dave was also the President for the national Mountain Rescue Association (1970–72). Years later Dave renewed his connection with the Mountain Rescue Association and Alpine when he became a founding member of the MRA's Honor Guard. Dave was a link to Alpine's past.
This week we laid to rest MRA Past President Dave Moore. More than 150 of Dave's closest friends and family joined a dozen MRA Honor Guard members, two pipers, and rescue mountaineers from MRA teams throughout Colorado. The memorial service and subsequent graveside service for the former Alpine Rescue Team Captain and MRA Honor Guard Co-Commander were both moving and a fitting tribute to a man who gave many years in service to those injured and lost in the mountains.
