Prospective Members
NOTE: There are 3 info sessions you MUST attend in order to apply to be a member. They are:
Alpine Rescue Team will begin a new Prospective Member class in January of 2025 with information sessions and application/interviewing occurring in the fall. Please see the team calendar for important dates.
The team accepts applications for Associate Membership at any time. If you are interested in helping the team with fundraising and other administrative duties, please contact our President (president ‘at’ alpinerescueteam.org).
Prospective members go through 12 to 13 classroom trainings and 5 to 7 field trainings before they start participating with the rest of the team. After an evaluation period lasting upwards of 5 months, those that meet the requirements are then eligible to be voted on by the team to become field active members.
The team looks for individuals who wish to help others and have the time and desire to contribute. No special skills are required. Attitude is much more important than skill level, and specific skills needed to participate will be taught.
A good way to improve your chances of getting selected for an upcoming prospective member class is to attend our Wednesday evening classroom trainings. This allows you to learn about us and for us to learn about you. When you attend one of these trainings, ask to talk to our Prospective Member Director, Caleb Wilcox, about membership.
Wednesday night classroom trainings are at 7:00pm at the Alpine Rescue Team headquarters. I-70 and the Evergreen Parkway. Please check the Alpine website to see if these trainings are held in-person.
From Westbound I-70, take exit 252 [Evergreen Parkway]. At the first traffic light turn right, and then take an immediate right-hand turn onto Rainbow Hill Rd. You’ll see the HQ building on you left.
From Eastbound I-70, take exit 251 [El Rancho / Evergreen]. At the stop sign turn right. The road bears to the east and climbs. As you crest the top you’ll see Quality Suites and the El Rancho restaurant on your right, and traffic signals ahead. Just before you get to the traffic signals turn left, onto Rainbow Hill Rd. You’ll see the HQ building on your left.
